The most awaited KTM Adventure 250 finally officially launched after all the leaks and speculations. The bike has been launched at a price of rupees 2.48 lakhs ex-showroom Delhi. I am not happy as far as the pricing is concerned. The bike is more or less the same as the adventure 390 barring a few changes.
The first point to note is that adventure 250 doesn’t get the LED headlamp that the Adventure 390 gets.
It instead gets the same halogen headlamp reminiscent of the Duke 250.
Secondly, The Duke adventure 250 also gets a new LCD display for the speedo console and we do not get the full-color TFT console that we get on the Adventure 390. The good news however is that rest everything is almost the same in terms of equipment on the Adventure 250.
Whereas the Adventure 390 actually came with Metzeler’s. We get the same 19-inch front wheel and a 17-inch rear wheel. The seating remains the same. I still didn’t get the chance to ride one.
However, Powering the bike is the same single-cylinder motor borrowed from the Duke 250. So, power and torque figures remain the same at 30 bhp and 25 Newton Meters respectively. We get the same six-speed gearbox. Seeing by the power figures, I feel it is slightly underpowered as I have ridden Duke 250 and Adventure 390 and clocked more than 1000kms.
Overall fit and finish, and build quality seem super impressive now this is the same chassis as that of the adv 390 which is inspired by their championship-winning Dakar rally bike. So, it is as rugged as it can get. The handlebar is nice and wide the mirrors are decent enough in terms of offering a good field of view.
We do get a 14.5-liter tank that would result in a good tank range. Also, the brake lever and the rider footpegs are open teeth once. So, you can remove the rubber on the rider footpegs to get more grip while tackling extreme off-road conditions. We get the same aluminum swingarm to offer great handling while riding through the tarmac. Also, the side-mounted exhaust is lifted up to offer more ground clearance.
For the brakes, we get a massive 320 mm front disc and a 230 mm rear disc. We do get dual-channel abs as standard and we also get the off-road abs feature. where abs is turned off on the rear wheel such that you can pull off those drifts with ease.
We also get a slipper clutch which provides for faster downshifts without running the risk of the rear wheel locking or hopping and also provides for a lighter clutch pull.
Who needs to buy KTM Adventure 250?
- This is for those who are just entering the motorcycle world and loves touring.
- For someone who is having a budget constraint and cannot afford KTM adventure 390.
- The one who is concerned about getting a better average ( I know it’s just only 4 to 5 Kmpl but it matters in a long run).
- Who are okay with low performing motorcycle and loves to cruise at 100 to 110 Kmph.
- For someone who is really tall or who doesn’t like Duke 250.
My personal opinion about KTM Adventure 250,
If I were given a chance to pick up the motorcycle, I would add 10k extra to it and buy a KTM Duke 390. It has all the features that the Adventure 250 misses out on. It can cruise at 130 Kmph easily. Unless I am really into off-roading Duke 390 serves my purpose.
